Tanerélle Mesmerizes Houston Fans on ‘Electric Honey’ Tour

Fans filled up the Bronze Peacock at Houston’s House of Blues to the brim as they waited for Tanerélle to take the stage. The R&B singer and model brought her Electric Honey tour to Houston after performing in Dallas for the first stop of the tour. The tour marks her first headlining tour after previously supporting Jojo and Ari Lennox on their respective tours.

It appeared that Tanerélle didn’t want the crowd to go a minute without being entertained as only half an hour after doors opened, Houston based DJ, HYPERFEMME, took the stage. Fans were obsessed with her, cheering her on as she took her final bow and introduced herself. She could see fans take out their phones to follow her on Instagram where they could see a sweet message, thanking Tanerélle and her team for giving her the opportunity to open for her.

Cheers rang out across the room when the lights dimmed and the show’s intro started playing over the speakers. Pretty soon, LED lights onstage started slowly changing colors from purple to blue to white to yellow to red until they all turned off and Tanerélle stepped on stage. The audience was instantly captivated when they heard her sing the first lines of “Blink.”

In Tanerélle’s fifth song, “Dalí,” she sings, “I don’t do drugs, I am them,” a lyric that perfectly encapsulates how the audience viewed her. The six-feet tall performer towered over the crowd, captivating them with her soft, smooth voice. Every movement she made was perfectly elegant and her gemstone covered bodysuit made her shine. All of it served to further enchant her fans and pull them deeper into her siren’s song.

Fans were able to see the extent of Tanerélle’s performance ability when she had her first heart to heart with the audience. While she was overflowing with confidence when she sang, the singer was giddy and shy when she shared how happy she was to be there, admitting that her inner child was screaming. Before playing her song, “I Wish,” she confided her own wishes to fans, which included her performing for her Houston fans which she hadn’t gotten to do until this tour.

Tanerélle got candid when introducing some of her songs, talking about how much she loved writing and getting to share different emotions through her music. This led to a particularly funny interaction between her and a fan when she was introducing her song, “Love From NGC 7318.” As she was trying to set the scene that led to her writing the song, she talked about going on a date with a girl and a fan yelled out, “You like girls, too?” The whole audience laughed as the singer is openly bisexual. The moment seemed to catch her off guard as she didn’t end up finishing her story.

Typically, when a chair is brought on stage, it’s easy for fans to assume the singer is about to do an acoustic set. When Tanerélle started talking about how much she enjoys writing her more provocative songs, fans started to view the chair with anticipation. However, before she could mesmerize them with her seductive chair dance during “Lovin’ You,” she first gave fans the task of helping her sing her song, “Continuum.” Tanerélle was pleasantly surprised when she didn’t have to teach fans the lyrics. Instead, as soon as she started singing the first lyric acapella, they immediately finished it for her.

As the show came to a close, Tanerélle introduced one of her final songs, “Better Days,” by calling it one of her favorite songs she’s ever written and talking about how she hoped fans internalized the meaning. She shared that the song was about perseverance and holding onto better days, which she urges fans to do. When she finally leaves the stage, she tells fans to have a great week and that she hopes her music is a safe space for them.

In a surprise twist, Tanerélle came back onstage for a seemingly unplanned encore after fans cheered for it. She sang “Let Me In” from her latest album, Electric Honey, giving fans a particularly sweet end to their night.
