A Sultry Night In Denver With Destin Conrad

More than halfway through his US tour Submissive, 24-year-old singer-songwriter Destin Conrad lit up Denver, Colorado at The Marquis Theater on March 15. Fans flooded the venue with anticipation of Destin's show, with one fan even offering a sweet gesture by bringing a bucket full of free flowers to take for themselves or to give to Destin. Hailing from Tampa, Florida, the now R&B singer originally grew an audience from Vine, garnering over 1 million followers. As a longtime friend and collaborator with Kehlani, he eventually released a debut project in 2021, COLORWAY, and surpassed 45 million streams. With experience from touring with fellow artists Syd and Kehlani, Destin embarked on his first US headlining tour this Spring.

Opening the show for Destin was Amaria, a fellow Tampa native artist. She performed songs such as “Lying To You” and “Losing Control,” setting the night up with her sultry, ethereal voice and melodic beats. She had fans engaged as they sang her song “Running Away” along with her. Amaria teased the crowd saying she’d tell Destin they weren’t ready for him because they weren’t being loud enough. Keeping the night chill, but buzzing with excitement for Destin, Amaria left the stage prepped and primed for Destin’s performance.

The mood was set with Destin’s signature blue circle rug and burning incense. Destin’s guitarist, Camden Bench, then graced the stage alerting fans of Destin’s imminent arrival. Soon after, the star of the show walked out to strobing lights and was welcomed by screaming fans. Throughout the concert, the crowd full of couples and singles were dancing amongst themselves to performances like “Switch.” Moving on, Destin shared how the next song was written when he was broke but really liked a guy. He expressed he didn’t regret the love he gave or received from this guy, and then jumped straight into “BILL$.” Destin performed more songs like “Outta Control” and “Same Mistake,” really showing off his signature sultry R&B style.

Towards the end of the show, Amaria joined Destin on stage again to sing “All For You,” bringing the excitement up at the duo’s performance. Destin closed the night by announcing he had one more song and began to play “Daydream.” Fans sang along, never taking their eyes off Destin, completely entranced. When he finished the song the audience erupted. Destin laughed and told the crowd he had one more for them. Destin sent the fans off to “In The Air” to end their Friday night in downtown Denver.
